Pertussis Outbreak Continues in the Lower Mainland ,May 24,2012
Safe Babies are vulnerable. Whooping Cough can be very severe, and life-threatening in infants. Pneumonia, convulsions and brain damage or death can occur. Any baby with cold symptoms during this time, must be examined by a physician. All family members with a cough lasting over 2 weeks and those in contact with Pertussis should be seen by their health care provider.
All vaccines must be given on time, especially the 2, 4, 6, and 18 month boosters.
WHO NEEDS IMMUNIZATIONS?
-
Anyone
who has not had a pertussis vaccine in the past five years.
-
Children between 4 and 6 years need a Kindergarten booster.
-
Children in grade 6, 7, and 8 (should not wait until grade 9)
-
Youth aged 20 and above (last given in grade 9)
-
Adults: most have not had this vaccine since age 5 years.

All pregnant women and their partners
-
All aboriginal people

After nearly 70 years, Sasquatch Days are coming back to Harrison Hot Springs – June 9th and 10th
This historic event will bring the local First Nations Band Sts’ailes back to the Village of Harrison Hot Springs for two days of games, fun and excitement. This intercultural celebration will include canoe races, traditional salmon barbeque, medicine walks, cultural boat tours, arts & craft activities, games, entertainment and most importantly talks on the Sasquatch from Sts’ailes experts and local Harrison Hot Springs Sasquatch investigators.
The joint hosts for this event, Sts’ailes First Nations and the Village of Harrison Hot Springs, invite visitors to this unique event that brings two communities together in an opportunity to learn about the traditions of the Sts’ailes people and share cultural experiences.
